Just discovered that the author of The Share, a writing platform on Lens (https://theshr.xyz/), has abandoned it.
According to the founder, replicating a Medium-like platform on the blockchain will not be successful.
Personally, I feel that Lens is not suitable for building a decentralized writing platform at the moment. Lens aims to enable different front-end applications to share data. It provides clear definitions and limitations for content like images and videos, but it is more flexible when it comes to long articles. This leads to multiple ways of implementing article applications, and customizing the integration of data from these applications is necessary, making it not user-friendly. These applications become information islands, making it difficult to gain organic traffic, which goes against Lens' intended effect.
Currently, the most popular decentralized writing platform is Mirror. If Lens can standardize the specifications for long articles in the future, it may be able to challenge Mirror's position and attract its users to the Lens platform. However, at this stage, Lens is not the best choice for building a decentralized writing platform.
